Communities
Finding, joining (including invite links) and creating a community, and the overview page.
A community is the top-level organisation in Treasury Guild: a DAO, guild, working group or open-source collective. It owns one or more treasuries, has members with roles, and is divided into workgroups and projects, each with its own board and optional budget.
Discover
Discover lists every public community plus any private community you already belong to. Communities on your wallet's network are listed first; the others are dimmed with a note ("Runs on preprod; switch your wallet to a preprod account to take part"). Each card shows the name, description, a Preprod badge for test communities and a private badge for private communities you belong to.
- Join — appears on public communities you are not yet a member of. One click makes you a member.
- Open — takes you to a community you already belong to.
You can browse Discover without signing in, but joining requires a signed-in wallet.
Joining a community
You can join through the directory, an invitation or work you take part in:
- Public communities: click Join on Discover or on the Welcome page, or Join community on the community's own page ("You are not a member of this community yet.").
- Invite link: an admin shares a link from the Members page. Open it, sign in with your wallet, and click Join. Private communities stay off Discover; only people with the link can join this way.
- Private communities, added by an admin: an admin pastes your wallet address on the Members page.
- Private communities, via GitHub: link your GitHub account. You automatically join any community whose boards have tasks assigned to your GitHub username, now or later.
- Call check-in: a manager's check-in link or code invites your signed-in wallet to a public community. A private community still needs an invite link or an admin.
- Discord capture: if you linked your Discord account, being captured in a community's rewarded voice call adds your wallet as a member.
- Treasury base signer or workgroup lead: an admin listing your wallet as a base signer of the community's first (primary) treasury adds you as an admin; listing you on a later treasury adds you as a member with spend rights for that wallet only. Making you a workgroup lead adds you as a member. Recovery signers and a co-signer must already be members and are not made admins.
New members get the member role. See Members & roles for what that allows.
After you join, you can optionally set a display handle and link Discord, GitHub or Google on your profile — the invite never attaches those for you.
Invite links
Admins create invite links on the Members page. Each link:
- joins the signed-in wallet as a member (never as admin), on the community's network (a mainnet wallet cannot join a preprod community, and the reverse);
- can expire after 7, 30 or 90 days, or never;
- can cap how many people may use it, or stay unlimited;
- can carry an optional label for the admin's own notes;
- can be revoked at any time while it is still Active.
A community may have up to 20 unrevoked invite links at once (expired and used-up links still count until an admin revokes them). The full URL is shown once when the link is created — copy it before leaving the page. The app stores only a one-way hash of the token, not the link itself, so a revoked or forgotten URL cannot be reconstructed. Share invite links in channels you trust; anyone with a valid link can join until it expires, hits its use limit, or is revoked. Invite links work on public communities too.
Creating a community
Open New community from the sidebar. You need to be signed in.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Shown everywhere. |
| Slug | The short name in the address (/c/your-slug), also written into every on-chain payout record. Filled in automatically from the name (changing the name again resets it, so edit the slug last). 2–63 lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, not starting with a hyphen; must be unique ("Slug already taken"). |
| Description | Optional, shown on Discover and the overview. |
| Cardano network | Mainnet or Preprod testnet. Preselected to match your connected wallet's network; if you pick the other one, a note reminds you that you will need an account on that network to run its treasury. |
| Visibility | Private (the default) or Public. Private stays off Discover (join via invite link, an admin, GitHub or calls); public communities appear on Discover and anyone signed in can join. Changeable later on the Members page. |
The creator becomes the community's owner.
Community overview
The overview (/c/your-slug) is the community's home. The title shows the community name, a Preprod badge if applicable, and your role. The community's description appears under the title when one is set. Admins also see a short Setup list of unfinished Integrations steps (Discord, payout Discord, GitHub, call platforms); dismissing an item hides it on Overview only. Admins get an Invite members link to invite links on Members.
A Needs attention strip lists what still needs a click when anything applies: transactions waiting for your signature, payable tasks ready for Payday, and (for admins) on-chain payments blocked on import. Separately, due proposal anchors show the same notice as on Treasury and Proposals.
