FAQ & glossary

Common messages, what to do about them, and the terms used in the app.

Messages you may see

"Sign in with your wallet first." — The page needs a signed-in wallet. Click Connect wallet in the top bar. See Wallets and signing in.

"Your wallet is not connected. Use Reconnect wallet in the top bar to sign." — You are signed in, but the browser wallet is not connected to the page (it was locked, or declined the reconnect after a reload). Click Reconnect wallet in the top bar and pick your wallet. See Wallets and signing in.

"The connected wallet is not the one you signed in with." — You switched accounts in your wallet extension, but the session still belongs to the previous address. Click Switch account in the top bar and sign the message to sign in as the connected account. See Switching accounts.

"No CIP-30 wallets found. Install Eternl or Lace." — No compatible browser wallet extension is installed or enabled. Install one, reload, and try again. Mobile browsers without a wallet extension cannot sign in.

"Nonce expired" — The sign-in message was not signed within 5 minutes, or was already used. Click Sign in with (wallet name) in the top bar and sign the new message. See Wallets and signing in.

"Community not found." — The link is wrong, or the community is private and you are not a member. Open an invite link if you have one, ask an admin to add your wallet, or link your GitHub account if you already have tasks assigned there.

"Members only." — You can see the community but are not a member. Join it if it is public, open an invite link an admin shared, or ask an admin to add you.

"Invite not found" — The invite link is wrong, expired, revoked, or has hit its use limit. Ask an admin for a fresh link. See Invite links.

"This community already has 20 active invite links. Revoke one first." — Unrevoked links count toward the cap, including expired and used-up ones. Revoke a link on the Members page, then create another.

"Admin access required." — The page (Integrations, GitHub, Call platforms, New treasury, Import treasury, Payment history) is for admins.

"Too many requests. Please wait a moment and try again." — Treasury Guild limits how often some actions can be repeated (for example signing in, creating communities or entering a check-in code). Wait a minute and try again.

"Your wallet is on preprod, but this community runs on mainnet…" (or the reverse) — Switch to an account on the right network in your wallet. Chain actions are disabled until then. See Networks.

"A pending transaction already exists for this treasury…" — Only one transaction (payout, payment, mint or anchor) can wait for signatures per treasury. Open it from the Treasury page and submit, reject, delete (unsigned) or cancel (signed) it. See Payday.

"Transaction is no longer pending" — It was submitted, canceled, rejected or deleted while you were looking at it. Reload the page.

"Only signers of this treasury, or leads of all selected workgroups, can build payouts" — Signers here means the treasury's base signers. Community admin alone is not enough. See Who can build a payout.

"Only recovery signers can build on the recovery path" — A clawback treasury's recovery path is built by its recovery signers, from the lock date. See Spending paths.

"This spend does not fit the voted budgets" — Budget consent is on and set to refuse: the payout or payment needs a voted budget for its period with room left. See Spend citations and the budget check.

"Proposals of this kind are off in this community. An admin can turn them on under Governance." — See Governance settings.

"A workgroup named … already exists" / "Every proposed lead must be a member" — A workgroup proposal needs a new name and leads who are already members. See Creating a workgroup.

"Recovery signers must already be community members" / "The co-signer must already be community members" — Add them under Members before creating the treasury.

"This community pays on mainnet: use a mainnet address" (or preprod) — An assignee's custom address is on the other network. Paste an address of the community's network. See Editing a task.

"Restore this workgroup before making changes" — The workgroup is archived, so its tasks, calls and linked meetings are frozen. An admin can restore it first.

"The reward is locked once attendance tasks exist" / "This call already has attendance tasks and stays as their record" — A call with attendance tasks keeps its reward and cannot be deleted. See Creating the attendance tasks.

"Connect a wallet token for: …" — A bounty ticker did not match exactly one token in the treasury. Pick the token in the dropdown. See Tokens.

"Exceeds treasury balance: …" — Fund the treasury or select fewer tasks.

"This community changes budgets by proposal" — Budget consent is on: budgets change only when a budget proposal passes, so direct saves and resets are refused. See Budget consent.

"A budget proposal for … is already open. Wait for it to close." — One open proposal per budget at a time. Vote on it, or ask its proposer to withdraw or revise it during the discussion.

"You are not in this proposal's electorate" — The proposal's voters were fixed when voting opened, by the rules it was made with. See Who can vote.

"The signature does not match this ballot" — The ballot was signed by a wallet other than the one you signed in with, or changed on the way. Sign with the wallet you signed in with (see Switch account in the top bar) and vote again.

"That GitHub account is already linked to another wallet." — Disconnect it from the other wallet's profile first.

Common questions

A finished task is not on Payday. Check that it is in the Audited column (app board), has the payable label and is in the import column (GitHub), or was created as a call attendance task. Neither the task nor its workgroup may be archived. A listed task that cannot be selected needs at least one assignee, a wallet for every assignee and a bounty. For GitHub assignees, link the account or have an admin or lead set the payout wallet. With several treasuries, select the wallet routed for the task's budget period.

A GitHub issue is not importing. Both the label and the project column must match the repository's settings on the GitHub page, and the issue must be on a Projects v2 board that includes the repository. Click Full sync to force a refresh.

Someone signed and the page says a conflict happened. Another signature landed first. The page reloads; click Sign again.

Can I edit a treasury's signers? No. Create a new treasury and move the funds. A template (clawback, lock-until, co-signer) is fixed at creation the same way.

Can I change a community's network? No. Create a new community.

Does Treasury Guild hold my funds or keys? No. Funds sit in the multisig address; keys stay in the signers' wallets. The app only builds transactions and collects signatures. The one exception is a co-signer treasury whose co-signer is Treasury Guild: the app holds that one encrypted key, which alone can never move funds.

Are votes anonymous? No. Each ballot is signed with your wallet. While voting runs, other members usually see only turnout (unless the community shows results live); once voting closes, every member sees each choice, reason and signature so the community can check the result — especially for budgets. A private community keeps non-members out; leave Publish signed tallies off to keep the signed tally in Treasury Guild only. See Results.

Why is Task missing from New proposal? Task proposals need an app board. If every workgroup is a GitHub board (or archived), Task is omitted from the kind list and Propose a task does not appear on the board. Create issues on the GitHub board instead; they become tasks when they match the import rule. A passed task proposal never opens a GitHub issue.

Why is a task called "Imported task #12"? It was rebuilt from a payout found on-chain that this community had no record of. The chain stores the task number, workgroup, period, amounts and recipient, but not the title. Open the task and give it one. See Imported tasks.

What does "Needs import review" mean? A transaction found on-chain carries a Treasury Guild payout or payment record, but something must be decided before it can be added: usually a workgroup this community does not have, or a task number that is already another task. Admins settle it on the Treasury page. See Importing on-chain payouts.

How do I verify a payout or payment independently? Open the transaction in an explorer and read metadata label 190001. See On-chain metadata for payouts and On-chain record for payments and transfers; the transaction page in Treasury Guild shows the same record with a legend of its keys.
